“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)
God will allow us to follow self-help, self-improvement programs until we have tried them all, until we finally come to the honest confession, ‘I can’t do it. I can’t be righteous in my own strength!’ It is then, when we admit our utter powerlessness, that we find hope. For it is then when the Lord intervenes to do a work that we could not do for ourselves.
No doubt this has been a weird year this year. It seems like yesterday it was January 1st and we were all on our way towards fulfilling the many plans we had scheduled for our lives, and then? Out of nowhere we have a pandemic virus that arrives and puts plans on hold.

Proverbs 16:9 says “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Wow! I was wondering how many steps we take that lead us to dead ends.
It seems the more I live, the more I see why the Old Testament stories of the travails of the Israelites seems so relevant these days. What an example (And a warning) of what can happen if we don’t yield to God’s perfect plans. If only we would just obey Him and “cut to the chase”, He would give us the shortcut with the least amount of headaches directing us to His perfect plan for our lives.

Pastor Chuck Smith said, “It is then, when we admit our utter powerlessness, that we find hope. For it is then when the Lord intervenes to do a work that we could not do for ourselves.”
Have your plans been spinning in a circle with no way out? Yield fully, give full right away to God, let Him take control and He will straighten the path.
