‘A Time To Make Things Happen’

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.”
(Hebrews 4:11-16)

Because Jesus is sitting at the most honored place at the right hand of His Father in heaven, me, a sinner can approach the throne of God with boldness, no matter how filthy hi from the stupidity of my sin. I can come when so much inside of me feels cold and dead.

And i can do so because I’m not coming on my own merits, but rather on the merits of Jesus, my great heaven’s High Priest, who lives to make intercession for me.

Jesus is covering my back.

It was not always so. For centuries, God’s people could only wait outside the temple where God’s presence lay veiled, wondering how He would one day make a way.

Ninety Feet Away
If you were an Israelite living under the old covenant, and you did not belong to the tribe of Levi, ninety feet was as close as you would ever get to the presence of God in the Holy of Holies….

We need to pray with confidence, if for anything but knowing that Jesus Christ is interceding for us in prayers. The whole idea in praying is not that we ask to get our way, but for us to come any
spend time with the “Way”. Prayer is all about spending time with God building our relationship with Him and seeing Him at work in our prayers.

In a time of social distancing it’s a comfort to know that like the Israelite’s who had to stand nintey feet away from God, you have unlimited access to the throne of grace, you can “draw near”and present your supplication and prayers, confidently knowing your prayers will be heard and answered.

Why we wait to take advantage of this benefit by being a child of God is beyond me, why not make it a regular part of your day?
