“Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.”
(Isaiah 49:15-16)
Have you ever wondered if God has forgotten or abandoned you?
Maybe you know by experience how David who cried out to God his Rock felt…..“Why have you forgotten me?”
(Psalm 42:9)
Or maybe like Israel of old you are seeing Isaiah 40:27 “My way is hidden from the LORD. My cause is disregarded by my God.”
Be encouraged, God has not abandoned you! In fact, read what encouragement Jesus says:
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”
(John 14:18)
Remember, God loves you! That never changes. And if He loves you and lives in you, take comfort that He may be doing things in you that you can’t see.
He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” —(Hebrews 13:5)
Sometimes it is not the difficulty of life but the drudgery of it that makes us think God has forsaken us….
There are times when we have this idea that says that God is going to do some exceptional, incredible thing— that He is preparing and equipping us for some amazing work in the future…..but it doesn’t seem to be manifesting itself in a way we can grab hold of it…
But as we grow in His grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, at this very moment….not just some distant point in the future all leading up to a place God has already prepared for you. But to get to that point, He has varying degrees of work in us needful for His plan, and sometimes it takes awhile to manifest in our own eyes…..then we begin to get discouraged, and to the point that we convince ourselves into thinking, God has abandoned me….enter into this passage where David was at this exact point before us.
If the Words of God unto us are true, the we should be living life with assurance that If God is with us He is also at work in us. He can never leave His children abandoned because He, His Spirit lives in us! And He dwells in us with amazing strength and power, the same power that raised Jesus from the grave. That power of Him in us becomes ours, and we learn to sing, glorifying Him even in the ordinary days and ways of life.
The promises of God to His children are clear:
“Neither shall any man snatch them out of My hand (or) out of My Father’s hand.” (John 10:28-29)

There is no doubt that God has whatever situation you may be seeing today…..well in hand.
The hands, hands to lead, hands to save.
The nail pierced hands.
Charles Spurgeon summed up these precious hands, that worked out our salvation that provides the forgiveness of our sins.
“Look at the nail-print, that is His memorial, His forget-me-not, and by it He says to you, “Forget thee I will not, I cannot, your name/ Engraved on my heart doth forever remain/ The palms of My hands whilst I look on I see/ The wounds I received when suffering for thee.”
