” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you”

1 Peter 5:6-7

Have you ever had someone ask  you how you’re doing?   It is an exciting moment when we feel someone is really caring and listening to us and our anxiety.   At first they seemed interested , but as you begin to pour your heart out, you begin to realize that they weren’t really listening, and were not interested, they were just being polite.   Everyone of us has so many secret burdens that when someone else comes to us with their own burdens, we begin to try and be a good listener, but we simply can’t deny that our own lives are in turmoil.

” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the  God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you”

So where does this verse leave us today?  First off, there is help available. It is the Holy Spirit here that is giving us a way out of whatever or wherever we find ourselves.

He say’s first of all, Humble yourselves We need to take action.  We need to surrender our flesh which is the culprit in keeping us in a captive state of unbelief.   God requires a sacrifice of whatever is holding us down. God cannot work in our lives if we are coming to Him in our own strength.  Give it up to Him.

Why?  “that He may lift you up in due time”   God’s timing is perfect. You may humble yourself before Him and expect an immediate result, and yet, the burden appears to still be there.  Not so, but it may be a time where God is asking you to exercise the discipline of humility towards the flesh which is working in contrast with God’s plan for you.  You may even be tempted to begin trying to solve the burdens on your own, and then giving it back to God.  Don’t do it!  This is unacceptable  before God.  He alone can resolve this dilemma, and He will do it in due time.  This means in His time, that you can see it was Him that did it.

“Because He cares for you”

Back to the beginning, people may be concerned over you, but they cannot solve your issues.   But God, cares for you.   This is the whole verse in a nutshell.  God cares for you.   If there is nothing else you get out of this, get this.  God created you, formed you, He knew you when you were yet in your mother’s womb.  God has made Himself accountable to Himself over every aspect of your life.

Your times are in His hands.  We make mistakes, we add unneeded burdens upon our lives and then wallow in them in despair unable to solve them. And yet, we turn to ourselves to solve them.  God cannot work for you in this realm.  He requires that we come to the  end of ourselves and come to Him for help.  Simple concept?  Yes, and yet it is the most difficult in a world where admitting our mistakes is counted as failure.   But God, He will receive us, and take the burden away, because He cares for you.

Maybe it’s time for a heart check.  Have you secret hidden burdens, that have turned into secret anxiety?   Jesus says: “Come unto Me all ye who are weary, and I will give you rest, for My burden is light and my yolk is easy”     Go God’s way, He want’s you to be free of  those burdens.  Trust Him now, give it to Him right now, and He will get rid of the flesh, and remove the stone.
