“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”   Proverbs 3:5-6

It’s been a few days since I last posted a blog and I have to say a lot is going on right now.  The past 5 days are what my doctor calls ‘rest days’.  They give me a week every month to ‘recover’ from the onslaught of the chemo.

This particular series definitely is the worse physically on my body.  Just about every side effect that ‘might’ happen has come.  Particularly the past 5 where my desire for food was gone, and when I did eat, my stomach rebelled against it.  Thank God today, Sunday May 12, I was able to eat breakfast cereal.  The main problem is that the first 4 months under chemo I had been taking over 4,000 milligrams of the pill portion every day. My stomach just plain gave up to it.  And so, tomorrow I go to have a decathitar  put into my chest so I can take the liquid of the pill portion.  This will keep me away from the pills. I thank you in advance for your continued prayers as I prepare for the final 2/3 left.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart”

Today’s Scripture really ministered to me very simply and directly.  I am to trust and not lean  not on my own understanding.  Trusting is something I’ve come to understand as simply taking God’s hand day by day and going His way. For me, some days appear to be a blur, and yet God has helped me to be confident in His way, though I don’t understand.  He’s not asking me to know it, one day I’m sure He will reveal it to me, than I will understand.

” and lean not on your own understanding”

Leaning, now this is what God is trying to work out of me, at least my leaning on anything else but Him alone.   The dictionary defines the word lean as “to depend or rely upon”.  I can tell you hard days often expose our lack of depending and relying upon God.  It’s easy when the waters are rough, to just shut down, but it is so vital that we read His Word every day, especially in difficult times, by so doing we hear from God, and we are able to separate the differences in our minds between when we are trusting God, and leaning on our own understanding.

“in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Remember the Lord in everything I do, and He will show me the right way….  Often when we meander in our thoughts about how things will work out, we find ourselves remembering God after we’ve thought out and concluded that it’s just not going to work out.   In all my ways that God is for me, and He has specially planned and prepared a plan with a path that is so obvious it’s Him because it’s a straight path.   God wants us to stick to His plan, and when we do, wholeheartedly,  the choices become clearer to make.  We can dwell in that place, remembering how we did it in the past or we can remember God, how He has done all things right and perfect.

Maybe, you’re going through something you’ve thought about way too long, and you have relied upon your own understanding so long and things haven’t gotten better. I encourage you today, remember God first, trust in Him and He will lead you down the straight path perfectly prepared just for you.   His love for you doesn’t change based on how many times you’ve neglected to put Him first in this trial.  Remember, the trial came directly from His hands, wouldn’t it be easier knowing this that it comes with a purpose and in perfecting His personal plan for your life, to train you in righteousness.
