“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” (Psalm 95:6)

In our household, it has been quite a tumultuous year in 2024. Earlier this year, My wife Patty encountered an un-welcomed surprise of life when she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Eventually, by the grace of God, she overcame valiantly by the grace of our loving Father. This was an un-welcomed surprise, one that would flip everything over within the routines and regular day to day habits; exposing every “knook and cranny” of what our lives look like under a different perspective the one and way God sees us.

Just very recently we had another “un-expected surprise “

Last Friday, exactly one week ago, I found myself at ER after I had received a text from my primary doctor that I “needed to get to ER ASAP.” You see, before this “un-expected surprise “ I was being treated for a severe case of athletes foot. After a week of antibiotics, nothing was getting better, zero, nada. So the doctor had me take another X-ray of my foot and before we could sit on the sofa, bam, here’s that call, ‘’Marty get up and get going!’ To ER, to continue down this river of affliction.

After six days of hospitalization, and one surgery, I was released yesterday afternoon and well, here we are. We (Patty) and I are extremely thankful to our Lord Jesus Christ, who through all He does every day, managed to spend time with us, to listen, to urge us on, to comfort us, to remind us that at the end of the day, the real matter was is Jesus and us, us and Jesus.

His faithfulness compared to ours towards Him can look a lot askew, and yet, He never waivers. Our communication with Him can look at its best, hopeful and our worship towards Him can look spotty at best, and yet His devotion to us is everlasting, never changing in volume or quality. Jesus is our best friend and it’s times like these when everything seems stripped away that we are finally able to hear His still small voice; above the noise, above all the “sound” we make.

I’m going to be down for about 4 weeks, as the Lord heals and recuperates my body and the Lord has given me utterance to speak every day during the next 4 weeks as He graciously is giving me personal time alone with Him. The subject matter? Worship. Worshipping Him. What does that look like.

Even if you can’t find time to walk with me on this journey, maybe you do what this one person at the hospital said; “Hey Marty, maybe you can shoot me up a prayer.” Here we go, it’s thrilling to spend time with Jesus, it’s going to be a blast with this personal time out with Him.

May the Lord richly bless you.
