“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
(Exodus 14:14)

Moses and the Israelite’s had just taken probably at this point of their lives the biggest step of faith, leaving everything behind, trusting in the leadership of Moses, following him as he heard from God.
Little did they know that in this “exodus” of a land they had known most of their lives, in following Moses, that their own faith would be tested, to see how big a God they followed, and reveal how much their dependency on themselves was going to be turned into a complete dependence upon God.

And so here they were standing at the edge of the Red Sea, hemmed in by the sea before them and the Egyptian army behind, in what looked like a seemingly impossible situation.

However, it was not something that caught God by “surprise”, something that God would have to react to and come up with something that would hopefully work…

No, it was a situation brought on by the Lord, Himself.

At that very moment, they were standing at the edge of the Red Sea, the sea before them and the Egyptian army coming after them from behind. It had the appearance of what we today would say, this place Moses and all these people were at was like an “accident waiting to happen.”

Moses and these Israelites are in a seemingly impossible situation, but it was a situation brought on by the Lord Himself.

It was God who had hardened Pharaoh’s heart to pursue the fleeing slaves (Exodus 14:4, 8).

God wanted to begin this new relationship with a situation, carefully orchestrated by Him that would teach Israel that He is their Deliverer (Exodus 6:6) and their Salvation (Exodus 14:13).

They were in an impossible situation and were incapable of escaping the situation on their own….they needed to see with their own eyes in seeing God do the impossible! All they needed to do was wait for God to move on their behalf.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.”

(Psalm 27:14).

The battle that appeared to be between the Egyptians and the Israelite’s was in reality between the Egyptians and the Lord.
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14.)

Maybe today you are at your own personal exodus.
A place of yielding fully to God and His plan for your life. A place that may seem inescapable. Be assured that if God brought you here, He most certainly will reveal Himself to deliver you to the land, the place, for the calling by Him to you, to follow Him, trust Him and stand with Him.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.“
(Psalm 23:6)

Trusting Him, looking up with anticipation , confidently knowing that even though you don’t know how it will turn out, you believe that God does know!
